Gastroenterologist – Medeor 24 x 7 Hospital in Abu Dhabi , Dubai , Sharjah
To perform the professional duties of a gastroenterologist in accordance with the delineation of privileges as recommended by the Chief of Internal Medicine Service and approved by the Credentials Committee. To perform his duties in the G.I: Clinic, evaluating patients with G.I. diseases which accounts for 25% of his time. To provide care to his patients in the intensive care units and medical wards, this accounts for 25% of his time. To perform G.I. procedures – upper and lower G.I. endoscopies, liver biopsies, E.R.C.P., oesophageal motility studies – 20% of his time. To share in the on call duties of the Internal Medicine Service, which accounts for 15% of his time. The gastroenterologist is an internist as well as a gastroenterologist and is expected to perform all the duties performed by an internist (refer to duties of internist). Provides after working hours on call emergency coverage for G.I. emergencies. Provides supervision and education to the endoscopy staff, nurses and technicians. Participates in the monthly staff meeting of the Internal Medicine Service. Attends and contributes to the daily morning Chief’s conference for the purpose of review of admissions and management problems. Performs addition duties as assigned by the Chief of service (e.g. Committee membership). Participates and contributes to the educational activities in the service: daily noon conferences, weekly grand rounds, monthly journal club, and the general physicians’ twice monthly conferences. Participates and contributes to all the quality assurance activities of the service (e.g. monthly mortality and morbidity conference, peer review, audit and chart review). Supervises the work of ward physicians, professional development physicians and interns, and provides his evaluation of their work at the request of the Chief of Service.
