Senior Industrial Hygienist – Client of Five Continents in Abu Dhabi
I. JOB PURPOSE The Industrial Hygienist is to evaluate health hazards; research health effects/risk assessment; and manage or consult health programs. He anticipates, recognizes, evaluates and advises on controls of health risks in the industry, to promote the wellbeing of the employees and contractors, in line with Company HSE Policy. II. MAIN DUTIES/ACCOUNTASBILITIES – Develop Industrial Hygiene Plan/Programme for HQ,ADRD and RRD Refineries according to the HSEMS and inline with ADNOC Code of practice and in coordination with the Senior Occupational Health Specialist. – Identify and evaluate chemical, physical and biological agents by measurements and collection of samples and analyzing test results. – Assess the risk of exposure to these agents and the consequent health problems. – Advise HSED on the control of risk of exposure at work and how to manage occupational health risks. – Advice on the planning on the planning and implementation of Occupational Hygiene programmes for the prevention of adverse effects of exposure at work and promotion of health of employees. – Advise on the requirements of OH aspects of HSEIA and review the HSEIA report submitted by the consultant. – Prepare and calibrate equipment used to collect and analyze samples. – Organize the laboratory analysis of the samples and recommend corrective actions on the basis of test results and inference. – Review reports and conduct studies to determine if diseases or illnesses are work related. – Collaborate with other health professionals to eliminate or control hazardous and potentially hazardous materials. – Observe, analyze and report about industrial health problems and make recommendations. – Provide training to all employees about occupational health and accident prevention. – Identifies and assesses any health hazards associated with the industrial operations and processes of Company. – Audits and inspects work locations of Company regularly to determine the presence of any physical, chemical or biological health hazards such as nose, heat, ionizing radiation, vibration, chemicals and air borne contaminants exposure. – Develop industrial hygiene monitoring system within the present HSE frame-work by providing training/assistance to ADRD and RRD sites HSE professionals. – Conducts industrial hygiene audits and monitoring. – Participates in Technical Health, Safety & Environment and other HSE audits teams. – Assists in development and implementation of a comprehensive Chemical Management System. – Serve as in-house advisor on industrial hygiene issues and recommend measures to ensure maximum employee protection. – Provides expert advice to new projects during design, construction and commissioning stages on Industrial Hygiene issues. – Provide economic advice in office and work site areas, new and old. Investigate ventilation, lighting or other conditions affecting health , comfort or efficiency. – Develop procedure for identifying and handling naturally occurring radioactive material and air borne contaminants exposure. – Coordinate/participate on ongoing Hygiene awareness campaigns. – Provide advice on possible effects on health of working conditions and exposure to substances.
