SENIOR MATERIALS ENGINEER – Client of Five Continents in Abu Dhabi
SENIOR MATERIALS ENGINEER Location : Head Office Grade : 15 Purpose of the Job: • Coordinates and participates in all Materials Specifications and Development activities to ensure data availability, cataloguing, standardization, suitability and assessment on two years operating spares for new projects. Main Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Coordination • Coordinates with Operating Divisions to identify & provide viability assessment, and establish program/facilities for fabricating spares/general items. Liaises with Purchasing & Procurement Support personnel to identify local/international spare parts manufacture. ? To provide on time service to User and ensure that activities are in compliance with Company Policies & Procedures. 2. Liaison • Liaises with Inventory control, Warehousing and Operating Divisions personnel to discuss, acquire data and obtain feedback on technical specifications, full description, interchangeability and standardization of material. ? To update buying specifications and to ensure optimal utilization of available facilities. 3. Cataloguing • Ensures that catalogue creation is as per Standard Modifier Dictionary (SMD-Intermat) and that cataloguing input is correctly maintained as per SMD (Intermat Format). • Reviews, amends and recommends proposed changes in catalogues to eliminate conflicting item numbers and ensures correct interface range of items with Company’s Materials Management System (MAXIMO). • Directs and authorizes adjustments and revisions in MAXIMO database pertaining to materials buying description. • Ensures that all the new items created (stock set-up report), Direct Charge Purchase Requisition’s materials and new SPIRs items are not available in stock or surplus/custody. ? To maintain uniformity in input data structure, to ensure proper data with full specification and avoid duplication. 4. Planning and Execution • Reviews and coordinates with User Divisions, Business Support and Engineering & Projects Division’s personnel on all aspects related to equipment and materials (Capital and Direct Charge Purchase Requisitions)/SPIRs for new Projects. • Ensures document availability, advises on technical specification, recommends adequate quantities, etc. and ensures that the latest technology is procured. ? To ensure adequate and essential spares availability for the plant maintenance. 5. Reporting • Assists Materials Specifications & Development Section Head in developing and providing statistical/management reports necessary for review, monitoring and control of the Section’s activities. • Initiates checkpoints, reviews, re-schedules key activities, such as new project materials (2 years Operating Spares) receipts / cataloguing schedule and prepares related reports as needed. ? To improve the functions and to meet the targets. Minimum Requirements: • Bachelor of Science in an engineering discipline. • 7 years experience in Materials Engineering activities including materials specification, cataloguing, standardization and manufacturing preferably in an oil and gas or petrochemical industry. • Knowledge of computer is essential (i.e. spreadsheet and database).
