Senior Reservoir Engineer – Client of Five Continents in Abu Dhabi
Directs and participates in reservoir testing, evaluation and interpretation activities and recommends optimum methods of performance monitoring. Participates in studies designed to define optimum reservoir development plans. Includes setting reservoir testing programs, interpreting results and liaising with other team members and Field Operations personnel to coordinate reservoir engineering requirements. Ensures final reporting well file updating for all analysis and field data and ensures data input by concerned staff. When involved with study projects ensures the receipt, calibration, computer manipulation and output of production test data. Provides advice to other team members on reservoir engineering aspects of the study. Accountabilities – Directs and participates in well surveillance activities and reservoir definition and behavior prediction of assigned reservoir. – Conducts conventional reservoir engineering and simulation studies to identify optimum recovery and field development options, adjusts reservoir development plans in response to changes in well and reservoir performance: – Recommends reservoir areas and program features for pilot studies of various oil recovery enhancement techniques. – Participates in contracting activities related to special field testing. Includes defining scope of tests, preparing specifications, evaluating bids and recommending contract award. – Directs and participates in defining the scope and content of reservoir studies used to assist in determining well behavior and optimum recovery methods. Includes, establishing program specifications, reviewing available resources, preparing tender documents, reviewing and evaluating bids and monitoring study team performance. – Carries out major or complex simulation studies, prepares progress reports and ensures adherence to Company and professional standards. Includes economic and risk analysis studies. – Carries out special studies such as enhanced oil recovery evaluations, optimization of water/gas injection and production rates or well positioning studies, as needed. Interprets output from such studies to generate and explain predicted performance, checks assumptions and reports findings accordingly. – Reviews performance of simulation programs, new software releases and other reservoir engineering related tools and applications. Liaises with DE(RE) and IT Support staff to test and identify appropriate packages and advises team management on the purchase or leasing of new software. – Ensures proper maintenance of reservoir engineering data including timely receipt, QCing, and updating of production data in associated files or databases. This includes routine and special core analysis data, PVT data, pressure tests, and production capacity test results used in reservoir engineering studies. – Identifies opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs. o Keeps abreast of latest technological development in the field of reservoir engineering. o Attends conferences, seminars and reviews technical periodicals. o Draws on the experience of other major oil/gas companies to ensure application of latest reservoir management technology. o Evaluates/recommends trials of new technologies. – Participates in the training and development of assigned UAE national employees. Includes monitoring and reporting on progress and counseling employees, as required. – Knows Company health, safety and environmental policy, procedures and objectives related to his/her area of responsibility; ensures effective implementation.
